Home installation for your Sirius radio antenna
Installation of a Sirius radio's antenna is not complicated but if you are uncomfortable with the idea then hire a professional! If you wish to install the unit yourself, consult the directions found in your owner's manual.
Your Sirius radio antenna is weatherproof, so it is best placed outside on the roof. If that is not possible, mounting outside a window is preferred but often reception is possible if antennas are merely placed near a window. It should be noted that window metal screens would disrupt the signal. If there is not enough wire for optimal placement then consider purchasing extension cable, available in 50 foot lengths, to allow for the best satellite radio signal possible. Most plug and play systems have a screen under options designed to help you aim the antenna, but if yours does not there is information in the manual. Once you have a good, strong signal wait a day or two before securing your Sirius radio antenna to make sure that the signal stays strong at various times throughout the day.
Sirius car antenna installation tips
The standard Sirius car antenna comes with 21 feet of cable to allow placement of the micro unit anywhere on the body of the vehicle. The 14120 upgrade features a magnetic mount for easy attachment to the vehicle trunk or roof. Both units are low profile so they will not spoil your vehicle's appearance and can be used with any receiver. A Sirius car antenna in each car you own, combined with your system's internal FM transmitter or a simple cassette adapter, allows for easy use of your Sirius radio receiver in all of your vehicles.
